Romanian promoted Eastern Europe manager with Swiss Sika
Romanian Ileana Nicolae, who has been the general manager of Sika's local subsidiary for the last 12 years, was recently promoted manager for Eastern Europe within Swiss Sika AG. Her spot at the helm of the Romanian subsidiary will be taken by Laurenţiu Ştefănescu, as of March 1, 2014.
Nicolae will coordinate Sika's activity in 18 countries, including Romania. The new Romania GM, who has been working with Sika since September 2013, will report to her. Prior to the promotion, Ştefănescu was head of the mortars division with Sika. Before joining the company, he was general manager of Selena Romania and EURO MGA Product, the latter which he brought back to profitability after it had entered insolvency.
Ştefănescu is a graduate of the Technical University of Constructions in Bucharest, and he holds an MS in Industrial Management with the same university.
Sika, headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, is a construction material producer. It has subsidiaries in 80 countries and over 16,000 employees. It entered Romania in 2002, and in 2008 it opened the first factory of additives in Brasov. A second unit for special mortars will be opened in Cluj county.
