Romanian state prosecutors ordered last year precautionary measures on RON 10 billion (EUR 2.2 billion) worth of assets, as part of criminal investigations.

The sum doesn’t include the asset seizures ordered by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in their investigations.

The value of precautionary measures rose from EUR 40 million in 2013 to EUR 107 million in 2014 and to EUR 2.2 billion last year, said Bogdan Licu, Romania’s First Deputy General Prosecutor.

Taking into consideration the precautionary measures ordered by DNA and DIICOT too, Romanian prosecutors seized assets worth a total of EUR 2.8 billion in 2015.
