Romanian public employees’ wages could be calculated based on performance
The public employees in Romania will be paid a fixed salary, as well as a variable wage calculated based on their performance, according to an official document drafted by the Government.
The variable wage will be determined based on the feedback received from companies and people, reports local Profit.ro. The employees will go through regular assessments made on clear criteria that the Government still needs to establish.
The Government also wants to change the current practice for selecting public clerks. Instead of just remembering the whole legislation, people will need to prove they have the necessary skills for the positions.
The current wage system doesn’t have a connection between performance and wage, and doesn’t stimulate public employees, according to the Government.
