Romanian publisher Mediafax gives up yet another print edition: ProSport daily moves online, becomes supplement of another daily

26 November 2013

Romania publisher Mediafax Group has decided to stop printing its sports daily ProSport, and to move it exclusively online. However, the daily will be printed only one time a week as a supplement of the financial business daily Ziarul Financiar, the flagship publication of the group, and the only one still in print.

The Mediafax group, controlled by Romanian investor Adrian Sarbu, former head of CME, the company which owns the ProTV station, has done a similar move in 2011 with the newspaper Gandul, which moved exclusively online.

ProSport was launched in 1997 by the publishing company owned by Adrian Sarbu, and in 2003, sold to Ringier. In 2008 however, Sarbu's company bought it back.
