Romanian railways company CFR to increase train ticket prices by up to 10%
Romanian railway carrier CFR Calatori will increase the price of train tickets this September, by up to 10 percent. The change was mainly triggered by the evolution of the inflation rate and CFR Calatori’s rising costs with fuel or energy, according to local news agency Mediafax.
For Regio trains, which travel on shorter distance, the increase will be of up to 50 Romanian bani, while in the case of InterRegio trains the price will go up by 10 percent. For example, in the case of InterRegion trains, the price of a ticket from Bucharest to Brasov will cost RON 50.5, from the current price of RON 47, while on the Bucharest - Constanta route the price will increase from RON 58.2 to RON 62.
This measure, which was approved by the Ministry of Transport, will apply starting September 1, 2013.
