Romanian referees to be reserves for UEFA Champions League final
Romanian referees Istvan Kovacs and Vasile Marinescu have been appointed by UEFA as reserves in the grand final of the UEFA Champions League between Manchester City and Inter Milan, to be played on June 10, in Istanbul.
UEFA recently announced the referees for the final matches of the continental competitions this season. Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will be the main referee for the Champions League final, and he will be assisted by Paweł Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, also Polish, as assistant referees. Tomasz Kwiatkowski and Bartosz Frankowski will be present in the VAR room, according to HotNews.
The refereeing team also includes two Romanians. Istvan Kovacs will serve as the fourth official (reserve), while Vasile Marinescu will be the reserve for the assistant referees.
The UEFA Europa League final between FC Sevilla and AS Roma, scheduled to be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 31, will be refereed by English referee Anthony Taylor, assisted by compatriots Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. The fourth official will be Michael Oliver, and Stuart Atwell and Christopher Kavanaghin will be present in the VAR room.
The UEFA Conference League final between Fiorentina and West Ham, set to take place on June 7 in Prague, will be refereed by a team of Spanish referees consisting of Carlos del Cerro Grande (referee), Pau Cebrian Devis, Guadalupe Porras Ayuso (assistant referees), and Jesus Gil Manzano (reserve). Juan Martinez Munuera and Alejandro Jose Hernandez Hernandez will be present in the VAR room.
