Romanian retailer Profi opens 4 new stores, gets closer to 350 units target
Romanian retailer Profi has opened four new stores in Romania, reaching a network of 324 units. It plans to get to 350 shops and supermarkets by the end of this year.
The new units are located in Anina, Caras-Severin county, in south-western Romania, in Aghiresu-Fabrici, in the Cluj county, in north-western Romania, in Focsani, Vrancea county, in central Romania and in Iasi, eastern Romania.
The first two units are in the small experimental format called Mini and cover 480 sqm and 427 sqm, whereas the last two cover 850 sqm and 508 sqm.
Profi currently has 324 stores in 154 places across the country, which employ almost 8,000 people. Last year, the retailer opened 71 new shops. Its turnover increased by 27%, to EUR 412 million, and the net profit went up to EUR 6.1 million, in 2014.
