Romanian rowing champion Ivan Patzaichin becomes comic book character

09 August 2012

Famous Romanian rowing champion Ivan Patzaichin became the main character in a comic book recently released under the name Mila 23. The comic book, with English dialogue, aims at inspiring kids to follow their dreams, just like the Romanian athlete did. The story is based on Patzaichin's childhood in the Danube Delta, in the village Mila 23, and also includes local mythological characters.

The comic book will be on sale in the Pop-up Shop Patzaikin in Băneasa Shopping City in August and will be distributed across Romania from September.

The Mila 23 volume is a project by the Association Ivan Patzaichin - Mila 23, published by Mandragora publishing house. The project will include a series of comic books detailing the adventures of Ivan Patzaichin in the Danube Delta.

Ivan Patzaichin won gold medals at the Summer Olympics in 1968, 1972, 1980 and 1984, before starting to work as a coach.

His recent projects include boat renting centers across the Danube Delta, as well as creating costumes for Romania's Olympic team for London 2012, and opening a shop to sell them to the public.
