Former Romanian sprint canoer Ivan Patzaichin (in picture), who has won gold and silver medals at the Summer Olympic games, wants to develop seven centers for renting boats across the Danube Delta. Patzaichin, who organized the Rowmania rowing festival in the Danube Delta last week-end, plans to open boat renting centers in  his home village Mila 23, in Crişan, Letea and Chilia by  next year, each with 20 boats, according to Theodor Frolu, Patzaichin's business partner.

The investment in the chain of boat renting centers should reach EUR 1.5 million and would enable tourists to choose themed tours by boat in the Danube Delta.

Ivan Patzaichin won gold medals at the Summer Olympics in 1968, 1972, 1980 and 1984. He started to work as a coach in 1984.
