Romanian short films marathon at The Ark this week-end

18 March 2011

The short films that ran in the last edition of the Stone Film festival, which took place between January 6 and 9 in PIatra Neamt will be screened on Saturday, March 20, in a music and cinema marathon evening, held at The Ark club in Bucharest. The short films will be followed by a party with indie band Sophisticated Lemons, hip-hop artist Doc, Romanian electronic music pioneer Matze and the resident DJ Amon.

The Stone Film festival, organized at Piatra Neamt, is the only Romanian festival that is exclusively dedicated to short films from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. In most of the cases, the short-movie makers are beginners, students or even amateurs. “Being a festival for the young, we try to promote the best films and their creators. The Bucharest screening is the fourth one we organize after the festival has ended… We won’t screen only the winners, but the whole competition, meaning 52 films over the course of five hours”, says Andrei Dascalescu, the festival manager.

The film sections of the festival are: fiction, documentary, animation and experimental. The screenings start at 19,00 hours at the Ark, and the party will take place after midnight.
