01 June 2016

Romanian-American opera singer Laura Bretan was the sensation of this year’s America’s Got Talent premiere as she impressed the audience with her performance of the famous aria Nessun Dorma.

She also won this year’s season of Romania’s Got Talent, on June 3.

The 13-year old opera singer, who lives in Chicago, got a standing ovation from the audience and the four judges of the famous American talent show.

“I have never heard anything like that in all the years I've been doing this show. Seriously," said famous British producer Simon Cowell, the show’s creator, who is a judge at America’s Got Talent for the first time since he launched it in 2006.

Former Spice Girls member Mel B went a bit further and pressed the Golden Buzzer, thus sending Laura straight into the live semifinal shows.

Laura Bretan also impressed the audience at her first appearance in Romania’s Got Talent, the local version of the famous American show, with her interpretation of Puccini's aria O mio babbino caro. Her outstanding performance brought her a Super Golden Buzzer from the show’s presenters Smiley and Pavel Bartos, which means that she qualified directly to the show’s final.
