Romanian song of the week: “Lullabies” by Snails
This week’s song comes from a brit-rock band originating from Chisinau, in the neighbor country the Republic of Moldova, named Snails. Even though the band is Moldovan, most of its gigs are played on Romanian stages and in Romanian clubs. The song we chose is called “Lullabies” and is performed entirely in English.
Snails consists of Lilian Severin (rhythm guitar, voice, harmonica),Vitalie Colţ (bass), Igor Buzurniuc (guitar) and Mircea Sturza (drums). The band was formed in 1997 and in the first years of its existence it played only covers from the 60’s and 70’s. After a few years the band started writing their own songs and by 2005 they had their first album called “Undeva” (Somewhere). Two years later they released their second album, “Nu-mi pasa” (I don’t care), that contained one of the band’s biggest hits to date entitled “Superbasuri” (Superbasses). You can listen to it on their MySpace page along with other songs..
“Lullabies” is the first song from their future third album that will be released this autumn. It will contain 11 tracks, all performed in English, written by the band members themselves. The name of the album is currently unknown.
