Romanian song of the week: Lumea e a mea by Voltaj
This week's song has recently been upgraded with a new video, which brought it to our attention. The song, called “Lumea e a mea” (The World is Mine) is performed by Voltaj, who have been quite busy this year.
The band's new album, called 'Da vina pe Voltaj' (Blame Voltaj) will be launched with a concert in Bucharest in October this year. The video was shot on the heliport of a tall building in Bucharest – Crystal Tower.
The song, unlike Voltaj's previous songs, which were quite high spirited, is more of a slow song, with lyrics trying to send a positive message after a breakup.
Voltaj is a Romanian pop-rock band with quite a history. The band first started playing in 1982, on a more hard rock sound level. The communist regime kept the band underground for a while. After several changes to the mix of band members, Voltaj really started to appeal to the public in 1998 when Calin Goia – the current lead singer- joined the band. Since then the band have rocked the Romanian musical scene and became a veritable hit machine.
The current line-up consists of Calin Goia, Gabi Constantin, Bobby Stoica, Oliver Sterian and Vali Ionescu.
Among the most well-known albums released by the band are ‘Risk Maxim 2’ (1999), ‘Bungee’ (2000), ‘3D’ (2001), ‘424’ (2002), ‘Povestea oricui’ (Everyone’s story) (2004) and ‘V8’ (2009).
