Romanian song of the week: Pase Magice - Antarctica

16 June 2011

This week, we at Romania-Insider.com uncover an electronic/synth-pop song that reminds a little, instrumentally wise, of the songs that A-ha used to play in the 80’s. The song is called “Pase Magice” (“Magical Passes”) and it’s performed by Antarctica, the band that played the opening act for Morcheeba back in 2010 when they performed in Romania.

Antarctica consist of Delia Opran and Ciprian Lemnaru. The duo takes inspiration from the new wave and forward-thinking electronic beats, crafting a sound that’s equally unsettling, playful, and melodic. Their debut album is called “Explorers”, a mixture of downbeat electronica, icy sounds, home listening grooves as well as blasty beats, perfect for the dance floor. “Magical Passes” is the first single of the album. You can find more about Antarctica on their Facebook page.
