Romanian song of the week: Romanian folk mixes hip-hop in Hora Fericirii by Subcarpati
In our search for something interesting (and Romanian) for you to listen this week, we found a new project called Subcarpati, which was a nice surprise as it reminded us of Romania's folk music. It was quite hard to choose just one song played (or mixed) by Subcarpati, but we feel that this one, Hora Fericirii (The Happiness Dance, in an approximate translation), sounds better than the rest of their songs that we've listened. It's a folk hip-hop we hope you will enjoy as much as we have. Those who have listened their share of Romanian folk music will surely recognize the background sound.
Subcarpati is powered by Romanian artist Bean, who is also part of the Suie Paparude band. Bean (by his real name Marius Alexe) launched this new project in 2010 hoping to illustrate the real Romania through this original mix. We hope to hear more of their music in Romanian clubs!
Enjoy the song below and for more, go to the project's website.
