Romanian song of the week: The Amsterdams - Country Holiday
If you are looking for that good old brit-pop/indie-rock feel, then you are in luck. Turn on your radio or go to just about any pub in Bucharest and you might hear the new song from Romanian band The Amsterdams called “Country Holiday” (listen to it below). This song, that reminds of the style of British band Franz Ferdinand, is the third single from their second album called Electromagnetica, that includes 10 tracks. The first two singles were “Island of Love” and “Coalmine”.
The Amsterdams band was founded in Bucharest in 2006. During the five years of activity, they’ve released two albums and had concerts in music festivals such as B’estfest, Peninsula and Stufstock (Romania), in clubs around the country, as well as abroad, in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria, the Czech Republic and Italy. The band consists of Andrei Hategan (vocals & keyboards), Andrei Ungureanu (guitar), Ovidiu Bejan (guitar & vocals) and Augustin Nicolae (bass).
The Amsterdams have released songs like ‘Taking Care of Anna’,'Petrolize All Mice’, ‘Apple’, ‘Chased By The Housewives’ and ‘Island of Love’ . The song ‘Coalmine’ was broadcast in Britain by the national station BBC6 Music.
