Romanian song ranks third in Eurovision song contest
Romania has won the third place in the European song contest Eurovision last night, with the song 'Playing with Fire', played by Paula Seling and Ovi. Romania's ranking is similar to what the country managed to achieve five years ago, when Luminita Anghel and Sistem ranked third too. Romania's song this year was voted not only by Romanians, but also by those in Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden. UK, Israel and Cyprus also voted for the Romanian song.
A recent article in The Guardian has suggested that Romania has been intentionally sending low quality songs to the Eurovision contest in the past years, to avoid winning, thus spending money on organizing the next edition of the song contest. Romania ranked 19th last year in the Eurovision song contest. Read the entire article on how much it costs to organize the Eurovision song contest here.
