Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu rushed to hospital during San Francisco Opera show
Famous Romanian opera singer Angela Gheorghiu was rushed to hospital after becoming unwell in the middle of a performance at the San Francisco Opera late last week. She was performing the Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, but after the first act, she had to be taken to the hospital because of gastroenteritis. The doctors found that she was also very dehydrated, but she is currently in a good state. She was replaced mid-show by Melody Moore, who sang the rest of Tosca.
Angela Gheorghiu previously performed at the San Francisco Opera in the La Rondine and La Bohème shows. The Romanian recently sang for Queen Elizabeth II at a London Royal Opera House gala. More about Angela Gheorghiu here.
