Romanian state spends EUR 500 a year to keep each student in school

Romania spends an average of EUR 500 per student every year, resulting in a EUR 4.5 billion education budget. However, the country's investments are five times lower than in Norway, for example, and two times lower than in Poland, according to Eurostat data, quoted by Ziarul Financiar daily.

The Romanian state currently spends about 3.4 percent of its GDP on education, while its target for this segment is of 6 percent of the GDP. There are 3.3 million pupils in Romania.
