Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu to give concert in support of Romanian Special Olympics team
A charity concert by the violinist Alexandru Tomescu along with Romanian actors Ana Pepine and Paul Ciompoieru will take place on January 14, 2013 at the National Opera in Bucharest (ONB), at 19:00. The concert is for the Special Olympics Foundation in Romania and for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Six Sonatas for Solo Violin by Eugene Ysaye will be the background for the show called Obsessions, which will include performances by the two actors. Tomescu will perform with a Stradivarius violin. The show will also include a selected program of light and retro-projections, all during 70 minutes.
Tomescu is supporting the sportsmen with intellectual disabilities, which will participate at the World Winter Games Special Olympics 2013 at PyeongChang, South Korea. Ten Romanians will represent the country in the games, taking part in events such as alpine skiing, and cross country skiing.
The Special Olympics Romania Foundation was established in November 2003 as part of an international sports movement. This organization contributes to social integration of people with intellectual disabilities, giving them the chance to discover and develop their potential and skills through sports training programs and competitive events.
The tickets for the show in Bucharest are available on the Eventim network and online on www.evenim.ro and costs RON 80 for first category, RON 60 for second category and RON 40 for third category.
