Romanians, big spenders when traveling abroad
Romanians are among big spenders when traveling abroad, according to tourism professionals quoted by Romanian daily Gandul. Romanians love to go to restaurants, even when they buy all inclusive packages, they choose four and five-star hotels in a higher ratio that other nationalities and are younger compared to other foreign travelers.
In Greece, for example, Romanians spend up to EUR 100 a day, while a British traveler spends up to EUR 10 a day, besides the cost of the tourism package, according to Roxana Birau, assistant manager in the Romanian Office of the Greek National Tourism Organization. Romanians who spend EUR 600 on a tourism package for Greece would spend another EUR 600 on average during their stay.
Romanians are among bid spenders in Austria too. One third of Romanian tourists choose four and five star hotels there, while only 21 percent of Hungarians do so.
