Romania's arm wrestling champion Ion Oncescu broke the world record, defeating 1,000 opponents on Sunday (February 12 ) in a shopping center in Bucharest. The skandenberg marathon lasted for eight hours and won Oncescu a Guiness Book record for the number of victories in a single day.

Last year, Oncescu, nicknamed Iron Man, won against 500 opponents, increasing from 300 in 2010 and 100 in 2009.

The Romanian is a world champion in skandenberg for both hands. He was included in March 2011 in the World's Hall of Fame "The 50 Greatest Armwrestlers In History".
