Romanians buy 7.4 million kg of sweets in December
Romanians acquired sweets worth over EUR 43 million in December last year, according to a study by Retail Zoom and commissioned by Polish confectionery producer Dr. Gerard.
The sales amount to 7,400 tons of products. Biscuits had a share of 24.3%, ranking first as volume, followed by wafers, with a market share of 10.3% as volume, reports local Mediafax.
The biggest increases, of up to five times, were recorded in the sales of pralines, chocolate figurines, and seasonal products.
Around Christmas the most popular flavors in Romania are apple and cinnamon, as well as cloves and citrus, said Otilia Stanciu, Country Manager at Dr. Gerard Romania.
Dr. Gerard announced sales of over EUR 4 million and 2,000 tons of products sold in Romania in 2016.
