Romanians change their toothbrush every two years
Romanians spend an average of RON 10 on toothpaste a year, a value that covers one or two tubes depending on size and price, while only one in two Romanians bought a toothbrush in 2011, according to a study by Ziarul Financiar, based on results from companies on the market.
These indicators suggest that the local market is far behind other countries in the West, where people appear to be more oral hygiene oriented and change their toothbrush every two months.
“The consumer and buying behavior of toothbrushes confirms a low level with Western countries. Yet the children's toothbrushes sector has seen a significant increase in 2011, compared with values recorded in previous years, as people understand the importance of oral hygiene more and more," says Victor Geus, GSK Consumer Healthcare manager for Central Europe.
Last year in Romania over 750,000 toothbrushes for children were sold, almost 50 percent more than the previous year.
