Coronavirus: Romanian travelers required negative COVID-19 tests to enter Cyprus
The Cypriot authorities have revised the conditions for entry into the country, with the new measures entering into force on Thursday, July 23.
According to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the authorities in Cyprus have categorized European countries based on their epidemiological situation.
Romania was included in category C, along with Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal, the UK, Serbia, and Sweden, Hotnews.ro reported. Travelers coming from category C countries can enter Cyprus only if certain conditions are met. They need a travel authorization, a negative molecular test for COVID-19 infection, and, in some cases, a special permit issued by the Cypriot Ministry of Interior, MAE said.
"Under the new measures, access to Cyprus is allowed to citizens coming from countries included in category C, as follows:
1. Cypriot nationals and foreign nationals legally resident in Cyprus may enter on the condition that they obtain a travel authorization and submit a negative molecular test for COVID-19 infection
2. Other categories of persons, coming from countries classified in category C, may only enter on the condition that they obtain a special permit issued by the Cypriot Ministry of Interior. Applications will be sent by e-mail to covid19@crmd.moi.gov.cy," MAE explained.
Thus, according to the Romanian ministry, to enter Cyprus, citizens traveling from Romania and not belonging to the category of Cypriot citizens or foreign nationals residing in Cyprus are required a travel authorization (available at cyprusflightpass.gov.cy), an RT-PCR COVID-19 certificate with a negative result (not older than 72 hours), and the special permit issued by the Ministry of Interior for non-residents.
MAE also said that the list of countries from which entry into Cyprus is allowed is updated weekly, based on the epidemiological data from each state.
