Romanians eat more brown bread
Brown bread consumption reached 7% of the total bread market, and is valued at some EUR 45 million, according to Aurel Popescu, president of Rompan, the employers’ association in the bakery industry. Nest year, brown bread consumption is estimated at 10% of the total market.
“Brown bread sales increased significantly in the last two years. People began to be aware that this bread is good for the organism and bought it more often,” said Popescu, cited by local news agency Mediafax.
According to him, consumption of this kind of bread exceeds 20% of the market in other EU countries.
