Romanians pay on average EUR 3,500 for an used car

18 July 2014

Romanians pay an average of EUR 3,500 for a second-hand car, compared to an average price of EUR 6,000 they were paying before the crisis, according to Mihai Cune, business manager for Autovit.ro, the largest platform for car classifieds in Romania.

About 58 percent of the cars for sale on the Autovit.ro platform are priced under EUR 5,000 and 80 percent are below EUR 10,000. At any time there are some 50,000 ads on Autovit.ro, half of which are for car sales. A third of the ads for used cars sales are at prices between EUR 1,000 and EUR 3,000 and almost a quarter are for cars between EUR 3,000 and EUR 5,000.

“Price is the essential element in Romania in choosing a second-hand car and the crisis cut the average acquisition price from over EUR 6,000, a few years ago, to under EUR 3,500,” said Cune, quoted by Agerpres.

Autovit.ro is owned by South-African investment fund Naspers.
