Romanians buy about 7.4 million cozonac cakes and some 700,000 pasca cheesecakes for Easter. They pay over EUR 20 million for these sweets, according to Rompan, the employers' association in the bakery industry, quoted by Mediafax.

The average price of a cozonac is EUR 2.5, whereas a pasca costs, on average, about EUR 3.5.

Eastern Romanians are the biggest consumers of cozonac, whereas Western Romanians consume it the least.

In the last years, bakeries have started to export cozonac and pasca cakes to the Romanian communities abroad. In the last weeks, they have exported about 500,000 cozonac cakes and 20,000 pasca cakes.
