Romanians pre-order iPhone 7 smartphones worth EUR 1 mln at local online retailer
Romanians pre-ordered and paid for over 1,000 iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones between 9-11 September, according to online retailer QuickMobile.ro, one of the first to bring the new model to Romania. The orders totaled EUR 1 million.
Last year, the pre-orders for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus via QuickMobile.ro amounted to EUR 400,000 in the first three days of the pre-sale period.
The pre-orders for the newly launched iPhone 7 models were listed on QuickMobile.ro starting September 9. Most orders came that same day. According to the retailer most customers (65%) bought the new models together with protection accessories.
On QuickMobile.ro, the price for an iPhone 7 with 32GB of data storage space is RON 3,499 (EUR 786) whereas an iPhone 7 with 128GB costs RON 3,999 (EUR 890).
The iPhone 7 first launches in the U.S. and other big markets on September 16 and officially starts selling in Romania a week later, on September 23. However, some retailers, such as Quickmobile.ro, buy hundreds or even thousands of units from the markets where the phone is first launched and resell them in Romania to clients who want to have the phone imediately after the international launch.
Local telecom groups Orange, Vodafone, and Telekom Romania will start selling iPhone 7 on September 23 with the pre-order period starting on September 16. They are expected to have discounts for mobile service subscribers.
