Only 3 in 10 Romanians redirect their income tax to social causes

Only 29% of the Romanian taxpayers chose to direct 2% of their income tax to a social cause in 2014, according to the local non-profit Salvati Copiii (Save the Children).

The number of those who redirected part of their income tax to non-profit organizations (NGOs) amounted to 1.8 million taxpayers out of a total 6.3 million.

In total, Romanians directed EUR 29.8 million of their income tax to NGOs in 2014. The average contribution was RON 79 (EUR 17.6), slightly above 2013.
