Romanians save on average EUR 53 per month

Romanians have saved on average EUR 53 per month this year, up 15% compared to last year, similar to the level recorded in Hungary, according to a study concluded by Erste.

Savings have increased everywhere in Central and Eastern Europe by an average 10%. The growth pace in Romania was the highest in the region this year.

The average monthly amount saved in Central and Eastern Europe reached EUR 91 this year, up from EUR 83 in 2016 and EUR 76 in 2012, according to the Erste survey. Austrians continue to rank first, with average monthly savings of EUR 239. They are followed by Slovaks, with savings of EUR 107 per month, and Czechs, with EUR 88 per month.
