Romanians spend EUR 1.8 bln on online shopping
Romanian consumers made payments of EUR 1.8 billion last year for purchases made via the Internet, Bogdan Pandelica, president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), said in a Facebook post.
The amount increased by almost 30% over 2015, when Internet payments reached EUR 1.4 billion. The average daily purchases reached some EUR 5 million.
On Black Friday last year, Romanians paid online for products worth about EUR 130 million, compared to purchases of EUR 100 million during the Black Friday 2015 event, Pandelica wrote on Facebook.
Over 50% of visits to local e-commerce websites are made from mobile devices. The purchases made from mobile phones reached 35-40% of the total online purchases.
