Almost 110,000 Romanians who spent the Easter in accommodation units in Romania paid over EUR 7 million on touristic services, according to data sent yesterday by the Romanian Tourism Employers' Federation (FPTR).

The most popular destinations were the mountain resorts of Prahova Valley, Bran-Moeciu area, Bucovina and Maramures. In contrast, the seaside recorded only 900 tourists who booked less than one third of the seats available to tourists during this period.

Hotels and guesthouses in Romania provided 136,000 seats during Easter, with more than 108,000 seats being sold. This translates into an occupancy rate of 79%. Tariffs increased by 2-5% compared to two years ago.

Tourists spent more than RON 33 million (over EUR 7 million) for the holidays spent in the country, according to FPTR. Romanians were mostly interested in rural guest houses.
