Romanians had a lower budget for holidays in 2013 and spent less money at the seaside this summer, according to Corina Martin, president of the Litoral-Delta Dunarii Association.

Of the negative trend, Ms Martin, quoted by local news agency Mediafax, said:

“A perhaps less pleasant conclusion of this season is that Romanians had a lower budget for holidays compared to last year. Thus, they spent less, consumed less on the Romanian seaside, this surely being related to Romanians’ living standard and purchasing power.”

In a positive sign for the Mamaia resort, the number of tourirsts slightly increased 5 percent year-on-year.

However numbers decreased in the south part of the seaside, although Romanians had a more positive attitude towards Romania’s seaside, choosing it over other coastal areas.

Ms Martin added that there were no estimations on tariff increases at the seaside for the 2014 summer.
