Romanians spend more on sleeping pills due to stress

Romanians spent EUR 1.8 million on sleeping pills and tranquilizers last year, up by 8% compared to 2013. It was the country with the highest increase on this segment in the region, after Bulgaria and Hungary, according to Euromonitor.

Over 50% of the Romanians who had a job at the end of 2014 said that stress has become widespread at their workplace, according to the local branch of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), reports local Ziarul Financiar.

The amounts spent on sleeping pills and tranquilizers have increased, due to the long extra hours at the office and a lifestyle governed by stress.
