Romanians talk 36 bln minutes on their mobile phones in six months
Romanians talked almost 36 billion minutes on their mobile phones in the first half of this year, up 4% compared to the same period last year.
Despite the increase, the number of active users remained the same as in the first six months of 2015, namely 22.6 million, according to the Communications Authority (ANCOM).
A Romanian user talked on average four hours and 21 minutes per month on the mobile phone, 8 minutes more compared to the first half of 2015.
The users who have subscriptions used more minutes than those with pre-paid services. They talked on average five hours and 49 minutes per month in the first six months of this year. The pre-paid card users talked on average three hours and 26 minutes.
The average duration of a call on a mobile phone rose to two minutes and 40 seconds between January and June this year.
On the other side, the number of text messages dropped for the first time in Romania. Over 9.5 billion text messages were sent during the first six months of the year, down 6% year-on-year. A mobile phone user sent on average 69 text messages during this period.
