Romanians travel more often by plane but still below EU average frequency
Despite the crisis, Romanians started to travel by plane more often while travelers from other countries in the EU reduced the frequency of their flights. Still, Romanian travelers are below the EU level when it comes to the frequency of their flights. In Romania, in 2009, the number of flights per inhabitant was approximately 15 percent higher than in 2007, according to AT Kearney.
The figure for Romania is of o.37 flights per inhabitant. The average in the EU is of 1.6 flight per inhabitant and has been decreasing by 3 percent in the last three years. Bulgaria has a travel frequency coefficient of 0.78 while the Czech Republic, of 1.2. The highest coefficient is recorded in Spain, with 3.24 flight per inhabitant, according to AT Kearney data.
