Romanians use more mobile internet
Romanians used more mobile internet in the second half of last year, according to Romania’s telecom regulator ANCOM.
The average Romanian consumer of mobile telecommunications services used 155 MB of mobile internet traffic each month in the second half of 2014, 40% more than in the first half of the year, ANCOM data shows.
The official data comes to confirm telecom companies’ reports, which showed that mobile internet usage has seen significant growth last year. Smartphone sales have also increased.
Average users also sent 72 text messages (SMS) per month, talked 202 minutes to clients of the same telecom network they used and 47 minutes to numbers outside the network. Conversations outside the network increased by 30% in the second semester compared to the first half of the year, as ANCOM asked telecom companies to reduce termination fees.
The intensive users also increased their mobile internet traffic by 41%, to 465 MB per month. These users sent an average of 202 text messages and talked 606 minutes in the network and 141 minutes outside the network, some 12 and a half hours in total.
The occasional consumers used 52 MB of mobile data per month, sent 23 text messages, and talked a total of 81 minutes (69 in the network and 12 outside the network).
