Romanians’ wealth goes up to EUR 415 bln, a maximum of the last decade
The Romanians had total assets of around RON 1.92 billion (some EUR 415 billion) in the first half of this year, a maximum of the last decade. The amount also got close to the peak registered in 2008, when the Romanians’ wealth went up to over RON 2 billion.
Every Romanian has, on average, a net wealth of over EUR 21,000, while the debt per person amounts to almost EUR 1,610, according to data from Romania’s National Bank (BNR), quoted by local Ziarul Financiar.
The Romanians’ net wealth increased by 4.6% in H1 2018 compared to end-2017, and by 8% year-on-year. The real estate assets still have the largest share in the wealth structure of the Romanian population – 78%, the same data showed.
The net financial assets, calculated as the difference between financial assets and financial liabilities (debts), increased in H1 2018 by 2.1% as compared to the end of 2017, to RON 424.2 billion (EUR 91 billion). The total debt of the population reached RON 147 billion (EUR 31.6 billion) at the end of the first semester.
