Romanians without revenues can opt not to pay health contributions
People without revenues and those who have revenues only from investments, such as dividends or interest rates, which are below the minimum wage, will be able to choose to pay the health contributions every month or only when they need medical services, according to a draft amendment to the Fiscal Code cited by local Profit.ro.
The current Fiscal Code obliges all people to pay health contributions even if they don’t have any revenues. The contributions are calculated as 5.5% of the minimum wage or about EUR 13 per month.
In January, however, the Government announced that it would change the law.
