Romanians would prefer buying local
Most Romanians prefer to buy goods made locally instead of imported products, according to a recent poll.
Three-quarters of the respondents to the survey said they would want local shops and supermarkets to sell more Romanian-made products even if they were a bit more expensive.
Nine in ten Romanians said they preferred buying food of any kind made in Romania and seven in ten said they preferred locally made home and personal care products such as detergents, soap, and others.
When it comes to electronics, white goods and cars, a little over a half of the respondents said they preferred Romanian products while over a third said they went for import brands.
The study concluded that there would be favorable conditions for a “buy Romanian” campaign but that this would work only if prices were competitive enough.
