Romania's 2010 foreign direct investments, down 25% on year
Romanian foreign direct investments, or FDI, fell 25.6 percent to EUR 2.6 billion in 2010, from EUR 3.5 billion in the previous year, the central bank said Friday. Equity stakes (including reinvested profit) stood at EUR 2.04 billion in 2010, while intra-group loans amounted to EUR 556 million. FDI covered half of the country's current account deficit in 2010. Last year, Romania's current account deficit widened 5 percent on the year to EUR 5.16 billion.
