Romania’s access to OECD, strategic foreign policy goal

13 May 2015

Romania’s accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is a strategic foreign policy objective, said Maricel Popa, State Secretary within the Economy Ministry.

The goal is included in the 2013-2016 governing program. Entering the OECD could bring Romania various advantages, according to the Economy Ministry, reports local Agerpres.

Romania would belong to the exclusive club of developed economies, and this would bring international recognition. It would have an impact on the country rating and would increase foreign investments.

Romania would also benefit from access to information in priority areas, such as anti-corruption, fiscal policy, agriculture or education.
