Romania's animation festival Anim'Est gets record entries

The International Animation Film Festival Anim'Est received a record number of entries this year, with 900 animations in for the title, five of which are feature-length films. The competition, to be held between October 5 and 14 in Bucharest, will have 45 short animations fighting for the prize, from countries such as France, Japan, Ethiopia, Germany and the UK, among others.

This seventh edition of the animations festival will also feature several award -nominated films: Oh Willy, from Belgium, which was nominated for Cartoon d’Or, Edmond était un âne/Edmond Was a Donkey, also nominated for Cartoon d’Or, and Father, which was part of the Annecy festival Competition.

American animation producer Joan C. Gratz, who pioneered the animation technique known as claypainting, and who won the Oscar for animation in 1992, will return to the competition with Lost & Found. She was invited for the 2011 edition and held a masterclass in Bucharest.

The 2012 Anim'Est will be held at Cinema Patria, Cinema Studio and Club Control in Bucharest.
