Romania’s average net wage was down by 2.1% in August, but still higher than last year
The average net wage in Romania went down by 2.1% in August 2014 compared to the previous month, to RON 1,683 (EUR 380), according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Compared to August 2013, the average net wage increased by 4.9%, in nominal terms, and by 4% in real terms (adjusted with the inflation rate).
The highest paying sector is the oil and gas extraction, where the average net wage is 2.6 times higher than the overall average, at EUR 1,013. The lowest salaries are in the hotels and restaurants sector, with an average of EUR 225 in August.
