Romania's budget deficit increased 52 times in December
The budget deficit reached more than EUR 2.89 billion at the end of December last year, increasing 52 times compared to November, when it amounted to only EUR 55 million, namely 0.04% of the GDP.
The budget deficit increased to 1.98% of the GDP at the end of 2014, but remained within the target agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Commission, according to the estimates presented by the Finance Minister Darius Valcov, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
The budget was kept under control in the first 11 months of the last year, but in December the government gave way to expenditure and the deficit exploded, as in other years. The final data on the 2014 budget will be known after January 25.
