Romania's Central Bank reserves, up EUR 4.1 bln in 2010, value of gold reserves grows

The Romanian Central Bank (BNR) reserves grew by EUR 4.13 billion last year, to EUR 32.4 billion, with the peak in November. In December, the BNR reserves went down by EUR 368 million, as the BNR had to service the external direct debt, while being impacted by the depreciation of the US dollar and on the Sterling pound against the Euro. In December 2009, BNR's reserves were of EUR EUR 28.3 billion.

BNR's gold reserves stood at 103.7 tonnes, with its value slightly dropping to EUR 3.51 billion. At the end of 2009, BNR's gold reserves, the same quantity of 103.7 tonnes, was worth EUR 2.55 billion. BNR's reserves are made of foreign currency and gold.
