Romania’s cloud market might reach EUR 200 mln by 2018

Cloud business solutions will register an average annual growth of 15-20% in Romania in the coming years, the market potential being estimated at EUR 200 million in 2018, according to Ymens, the first cloud services broker in Romania.

The software as a service (SaaS) solutions have a high growth potential in the local market. According to data from research company IDC, the cloud licenses are to represent 15% of all the sales of software solutions in Romania in the next four years.

The evolution is consistent with the European trends, as cloud solutions for companies grow at an annual pace of 16% to 30%, compared to a 3% increase for traditional IT solutions.

The email is the main business solution used by SMEs in Romania (64.3%), followed by electronic billing solutions (39.1%), and data storage (36.8%), according to data published by the National Council of Private Small and Medium Enterprises in Romania in the 2015 White Paper of SMEs. Over 26% of respondents see business development opportunities in using new technologies.

An increasing number of SMEs see the advantage of paying a monthly subscription for IT solutions, similar to the cloud model, and the use of cloud solutions is expected to increase in the SME and public sector.

According to experts, the number of cloud applications will also increase at least 10 times in five years.

Ymens, part of Teamnet Group, is the first cloud broker in Romania that offers outsourcing solutions.
