Romania’s Dacia sells over 340,000 cars worldwide in 2011

Romanian brand Dacia's sales fell slightly by 1.8 percent in 2011, to around 343,000  cars sold worldwide, according to the company. The reported results were close to 2010's 349,000 units sold. The Dacia Duster accounted for 47 percent of the total sales.

The best selling Dacia model was the Duster SUV with 161,200 units sold, followed by Logan, with over 95,000 units, and Sandero, with more than 86,000 cars sold.

In Romania, Dacia sold 30,800 vehicles, achieving a market share of 28.9 percent, while outside Romania, the brand recorded a new record in 2011, with over 312,000 units sold.

Dacia ranks fifth in sales to consumers in France with 94,367 units, while the "Dacia Duster built on its commercial success, with a 170 percent (PC+LCV) increase compared with 2010, putting it in sixth place for sales to consumers,” according to the company.

In Germany Dacia sold 43,400 units - up 7.8 percent compared to 2010, while in Italy, the Romanian brand recorded an increase of 15 percent to 26,800 units.
