Romania's electricity production reaches pre-1989 levels
Romania's electricity production exceeded 10,000 MWh yesterday, December 2, at 10.30 a.m., a level similar to the Communist period - before 1989 - when the Romanian industry was consuming huge amounts of electricity, reports local Economica.net.
The high level was generated by wind turbines which operate at full capacity during this period. Wind energy also accounted for Romania's 1,400 MWh energy exports.
The wind production surpassed yesterday 2,000 MWh, among the highest levels in history, making it in the top three as a source of production, after coal, 2,650 MWh and water, 2,400 MWh.They were followed by hydrocarbons with 1,504 MWh, nuclear energy 1,390 MWh, biomass 70 MWh, solar energy 7 MWh.
